The diameter of the stainless steel curtain rod
The base of a curtain rod is a round tube. The first step in putting together your curtain rod is, therefore, choosing a diameter. You can choose from different tube diameters:
- 19.0 mm: Suitable for light curtains.
- 25.4 mm: Suitable for light to medium-weight curtains. With this tube diameter, you can not only choose matt brushed stainless steel parts, but also anthracite.
- 26.9 mm: Suitable for medium to heavy curtains.
- 28.0 mm: Suitable for medium to heavy curtains. You can combine this pipe diameter with stainless steel pipe couplings. This ensures a tough and industrial end result.
- 33.7 mm: Suitable for medium to heavy curtains.
Most customers choose a diameter of 26.9 or 33.7 mm. The curtains that you can use with a rod must have loops, sliding hooks, or eyelets. If you already have curtains at home, you can measure the diameter of the rings to determine which curtain rod diameter is suitable.
Ordering a stainless steel curtain rod
If you have made a choice for pipe diameter, you can see at a glance which parts can be used.
- You can order the tube in the desired length, we saw it to size for you. You only pay for the length you need.
- You determine how many supports are needed based on the length of your curtain rod. The amount of supports you need differs per pipe diameter. A thinner tube is less sturdy than a thicker one and needs more support. We have placed a handy overview in each diameter category with how many supports you need for which length.
- The choice of supports, wall flanges, and/or end caps depends on the way you mount the curtain rod: against the wall, against the ceiling, or in the frame. For example, you only need wall flanges if the end of the pipe remains visible and not if it disappears into a support or wall flange.
Tips & tricks for ordering and mounting your curtain rod
- Don't forget the fasteners! For example, end caps are often glued into the pipe with stainless steel glue and for a wall flange, you need screws. All parts state how they are mounted and which items you need for this.
- Does your curtain rod have a length of more than 3 meters? Then mounting can sometimes be difficult. To make the installation easier, you can order the tube in two parts. These two parts are then coupled in a tube holder on foot. The connection is concealed invisibly in the tube holder, so it looks like the tube consists of one piece. Since you don't have to work with one long piece of pipe, hanging the rod is a lot easier.
- Push-on supports are available in fixed sizes, but if you opt for a curtain rod of 25.4 mm or 28.0 mm, you can also order push-on support to measure. We then produce the support in the desired length.
- If you decide to mount the rod on the ceiling or wall above the window, do not hang the rod on the wall on either side. Take into account the folds in the curtains. The curtains should not touch the wall.
